Y Princess Daddy/Daughter Camp-Out November 5th to 7th, 2010

Jordan is in Y-Princesses with her Daddy. She loves it. I was very excited for CHH and Jordan to be able to have this activity together. It is something she will always remember doing with her Daddy -- their special fun time together.

For this weekend, they had their first Y-Princess camp-out. It was so fun to hear the various Dads planning the weekend and see how excited the girls were. Jordan was thrilled when CHH took her to the store to buy her a sleeping bag, flash light, etc. for the weekend. The excitement leading up to the camp out was great to witness for me.

The Dads picked up the daughters at school carpool on Friday and headed out to the Girl Scouts campground. They all stopped along the way at a hamburger place to eat dinner and re-group. After dinner, they headed on to the campgrounds.

From what I understand the campgrounds were amazing. Jordan's tribe got the largest cabin which apparently was one gigantic room with bunkbeds everywhere. I think there were 16 Dad/Daughters in one cabin. CHH and Jordan set up on one bunk bed with CHH on the bottom and Jordan on the top bunk.

Apparently the rest of the weekend was filled with fun activities -- cooking out, hanging out on top bunks with friends talking, a scavenger hunt, decorating walking sticks, taking a boat, hiking, horseback riding, shooting arrows, etc.

Jordan's Daddy full heartedly participated in the scavenger hunt and because of him and several other Dads actually won the scavenger hunt against all the other campers. Their prize was a real rabbit skin for each of the girls in their tribe. Jordan thought this was the greatest thing ever.

I laughed so hard hearing about what the men had to do to win the hunt. They had to find a white horse tail hair (they drove down to where the horse were kept and got this), a live butterfly (apparently this involved one man running and chasing the butterfly, Jordan's Dad jumping on it with a jacket and landing in burrs, and another father reaching under the jacket to capture the butterfly), a live cricket, a heart shaped rock, etc.

Another fun event for the girls apparently was when the Chiefs arrived and painted each girls' face with paint. The girls loved this.

CHH also told me that Jordan loved shooting arrows with the bow and was quite good at it. He said she had an eye for it. Jordan loved it so much that on Sunday when the camp out was over she asked to go do the bows and arrows one more time. CHH drove her to the site to do so and it was closed. She can't wait to go again and do this activity.

When they arrived home, Jordan and her Dad were so excited and talked about their campout non-stop for days. I missed my Jordie big time over the weekend but had special Mommy time with Katelyn. Katelyn and I went to the zoo while they were gone! Anyhow I am so happy Jordan and CHH had this special time together that I know he will never forget. Jordan cannot wait until their Spring camp-out!
