Lost Pines Weekend Again!

Sunday, Jordan and Katelyn went to see the Beauty and the Beast Musical.  Our family joined about 8 other families from Jordan's school.  The girls had a great time.  Afterwards, several of the girls ran through a fountain outside of the theater and had a great time doing so.  It was so hot outside so this was definitely refreshing to them.

Friday before leaving for Hyatt Lost Pines, Jordan had a performance at her current camp, Dallas Children's Theater.  She chose to be Elphaba from Wicked for the "Fairy Tale" performance and she did an excellent job.  Two of the Moms told me she was quite a little performer.  Jordan loves stuff likes this.  She really was cute up on stage delivering her lines.

After the performance, we head to Hyatt Lost Pines with two other families for the weekend.  As always, we had a great time -- swimming, smores, movies on the lawn, etc.

Aunt Kara came for a visit while there and spent time with the girls.  It was cute because all the kids were calling her Aunt Kara!
CHH is talking to Katelyn about the Roley Poly Katelyn is holding in her hands.  She loves Roley Poly's!!

Peace Girls!

Jordan getting ready to bake!
Jordan and Katelyn cooking with their Easy Bake ovens.  The cakes they made were DISGUSTING though no fault of theirs.
For camp, the girls were told to dress as something from their favorite decade.  I thought peace symbols for the 60's would work.  Jordan was disappointed because I made the mistake of telling her the 20's had Flapper Girl dresses.  She was set on a Flapper Girl dress but finding one the night before camp was impossible!  I told her she could get one for Halloween if she wanted to do so.

The girls ready for camp.  Katelyn fell at school and scraped her face while on the playground.  The nurse called me and said she was fine but her face was scraped and would be bruised later in the day.  She said she put ice on Katelyn's face and Katelyn wanted to go back to camp.  She did not want to miss out on playing with her friends!

American Airline's Pilots

So after our plane landed in Albuquerque (on our way to our Colorado trip) and we were disembarking, the pilot invited Katelyn and Jordan into the cockpit to see it. As CHH said, how often in one's lifetime do you get to do that! The girls were thrilled and the Captain was so incredibly nice and great to them. He was a perfect representation for American Airlines!

Both girls got to sit in the pilots' seats and turn the steering wheel.

The pilot even put his hat on Jordan and Katelyn. Can you see the excitement in Jordan's eyes?! She was telling us she wants to be a pilot now when she grows up!

Katelyn in the pilot's hat. They even got to hit a light button that turned on lights in the cockpit. This truly made their day. The funny thing was on the return flight from Albuquerque both girls started talking to that pilot and he gave them both a set of wings (a pin). Talk about gentlemen!

Side note: Ronnie Dunn from Brooks and Dunn was on our flight and standing next to Jordan and me. In real life, he looks exactly like his pictures! I'm not good at noticing people but he was very distinctive looking. No one bothered him but I wanted to say "I will miss Brooks and Dunn playing together" since they are stopping after this year! I didn't though; I left the poor man in peace as did everyone else.

Colorado Cousins

When in Colorado, we were thrilled to get to see our extended family as well. My Uncle has a house there and lives there half the year. I texted messaged him and told him we were at the Malt Shoppe. They showed up! Here Jordan is with her Uncle Hal (my Dad's brother) when they arrived at the Malt Shoppe.

Jordan and one of the famous banana splits she insisted on getting and of course could not finish! It was so big and so cheap.

I took these photos with my IPhone so they are a bit fuzzy at times! The girls with their Great-Uncle Hal and Great-Aunt Nancy!

After the malt shoppe, we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house for a bit. My cousin, Janice, her husband, Troy, and their boys, Ethan and Luke were in town as well. It was a real treat to get to see them outside of Arizona and to visit with them. The girls were thrilled to see their boy cousins again. It's funny -- when we got back home and were sitting at the dinner table, Katelyn included all of them in her dinner prayer listing their names out individually -- it was so cute and seeing them obviously had been important to her.

When we left their house and headed back to our friend's Colorado home after visiting, Jordan commented that it had been a great day because she spent time with her friends and her family! Jordan is all about family and I love it.

Colorado Rocky Moutain High

We went to Colorado last weekend and stayed with some friends at their house. It was wonderful. Here the girls are at the airport waiting to board the flight.

The view from our friend's house.

Jordan and two of her school friends in Colorado!

All the girls ready for bed the first night there.

This is what we witnessed every day - deer right outside our windows. The whole house was windows with the most spectacular view everywhere one looked. Katelyn is looking out the window at a deer in front of the house.

Katelyn and friends watching TV.

Our first full day in Colorado, we drove into Colorado Springs and went river rafting all day. It was so much fun.

Saturday night enjoying dinner outside on the deck.

Sunday morning (4th of July!), I helped the girls make a tent. They loved it and were so cute hiding in it. Kids just love tents...

A baby deer laying down right outside my bedroom window.

Look how close the deer were!

Katelyn and her buddy playing outside on the deck. It was so awesome for my kids to get to enjoy the outside. We didn't have to worry about anyone taking them (except perhaps a mountain lion or bear!) and were able to see outside through all the windows at all times to check on them. Katelyn had a blast jumping off of rocks, playing in the dirt, picking up sticks, watching animals, etc.

Katelyn is too darn cute I think!!

Sunday, the whole gang went horseback riding. Yes, my Katelyn and Jordan rode horses by themselves and did so well. Katelyn is getting her stirrups adjusted.

Katelyn is ready to go ride.

Jordan is getting situated on her horse, "Cowboy".

Jordan is ready to go.

Everyone waiting to go on the ride. This was CHH's first time to ride a horse as well. He was such a great sport about river rafting (his first time), horsebackriding, and spending time outside. I kept joking he was my city sleeker. He did really well and had a great time the whole weekend.

All of us on the two hour trail ride.

Jordan and her Daddy riding their horses.

Katelyn is in the turquoise hat riding her own horse at 3 1/2 years old. Yes, I was concerned at first but I was assured these were trail horses and would follow each other. She hung on really well and even had to kick her horse to go at times when it stopped to eat. She was amazing as was Jordan!

Getting a snack after the ride. The girls had the best time.

After riding, we went into Pagosa Springs to go to a carnival. This is the wooden bridge in Pagosa.

The view from the bridge of Pagosa Springs - it was so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.

Our headquarters - the Malt Shoppe!! Every time we stopped here it was packed. It was yummy!

I love this picture of my family!

Sunday night, the 4th of July! The kids all ate outside.

Monday morning - time to go home - Katelyn and her buddy after just waking up.

All the kids Monday morning!

Katelyn outside once again right before we were getting ready to head back home. It was a wonderful vacation in Colorado although too quick. Colorado is truly gorgeous. I loved telling the girls I was born there! Side note: I had John Denver songs running through my head the whole weekend and continuing since we returned home!
