On Friday, it was finally my turn to be the "Reader Mom" for Jordan's class at school. She claimed that all the other Moms have already done it and asked me why I was last. I am happy to report I found another Mom who is reading this Friday and she hasn't done it either. Jordan did not understand why I was assigned such a late spot!
Anyhow one Mom a week is assigned to come into the classroom on Friday and to read a story. I picked "The Fire Cat" - one of my childhood favorites. Jordan loves it as well.
The picture above is when we arrived at school and Jordan is getting ready to walk in.

It was great to view Jordan's routine in the mornings. The kids all meet outside the classroom and then a teacher dismisses them to go into their classrooms. Jordan's first thing to do when she arrives in her class is to put her red folder from her book bag into her allotted slot.

She then puts her book bag in her assigned locker.

Jordan was greeted right away by one of her good buddies.

This is Jordan's artwork displayed in the room along with a picture of her family.

This is a picture of another good buddy of Jordan's. Jordan was so excited to show her friends her book.

Jordan is showing another one of her friends her favorite part of the story. Jordan loves the part where the cat sticks out his paw to show the fireman how big his paws are. She laughs every time.

The kids have to sign in each morning and put on a name tag.

Jordan and me after reading the book, "The Fire cat." I gave the book to Jordan's teacher for her classroom so the kids could have it. Jordan was not happy about it at first until I assured her we had the exact same copy at home. She was worried I was giving one of her favorite books away.
I have to say the absolute best part of my Reader Mom stint was how proud Jordan was I was there and how proud she seemed to be of me. She was so excited and pulled me along to talk to everyone. It was the best hearing her say "this is my Mama" and to hear her talking about me reading the story. It made me so happy to see her excitement and to hear what she had to say. Is it too much to hope that she is always proud of me?! I felt so good that she was so proud of me. It was a great day!
