Around a week or so ago, Jordan came downstairs after being put to bed and said her arm hurt. She was crying and said she could not move it. She had also complained of ankle pains off and on over the last couple of weeks. Jordan then came home from school Friday saying her ankle hurt and it hurt to walk.
This past Saturday morning she complained her leg hurt and she could not go to ballet. I took her anyway and told her to sit and watch if she could not participate. She participated the whole 1 1/2 hours and never complained again the rest of the day.
She seemed to be fine and not complain of any pain when she was doing things she liked to do. Saturday night after making cupcakes, she was laying on the bed watching TV with Katelyn and started crying really hard -- tears streaming down her face. She said her arm hurt --specifically the elbow on both sides. She wouldn't lift it or move it. This scared us. As CHH described it, she was in intense pain.
I gave her some Tylenol and put her to bed. This even broke my heart because she sleeps on her stomach and couldn't move her arm. She was crying and told me she was uncomfortable and couldn't move it. I had to move it for her, placing it above her head on her pillow.
After this, I freaked. My mind went places that it did not need to go. I started researching on the Internet -- never good. I then emailed my friend who is a doctor along with my Dad and Uncle (also doctors). The consensus was we probably should take her to the doctor.
Sunday, she woke up and said it was a little sore but she could move her arm. I typed up everything that had occurred with her pains the last few weeks along with her various activities and faxed it to her Pediatrician on Monday.
For the first time ever, he called instead of the nurse. He said everything could be explained away with regard to the ankles and leg but he was concerned about her arm pain. The good thing is all week she has felt perfect - no aching body parts and jumping around like the monkey she is.
I took her to the doctor during lunch yesterday and they x-rayed her arm along with doing some blood work. Everything came back fine - yahoo!!!
When I asked the doctor, what could have happened for her to cry like this two different times and was in obvious pain with regard to her arm, his reply basically was only God above knows. I'll take that. Anyhow she's great and I'm hoping that is the last arm pain we will witness (that is of course unless she is like her Mama and breaks her arm/ankle several times during her childhood like I did :) I hope not!).
