Weekend with the Family

Friday night while eating dinner at home, I suddenly remembered that I had saw a sign at Barnes & Noble the previous weekend stating Peter Rabbit would be at B&N Friday night and Peter Rabbit along with other stories would be read in the children's section. I got a spurt of energy and asked the girls if they wanted to go and asked their Aunt Kara. Kara said she would go and hang out in the Starbucks at B & N and read a magazine. While waiting for the books and Peter Rabbit, the girls looked at various books. When they started to read books, Katelyn was "done". Thank goodness for Aunt Kara. She took her off to buy her some hot chocolate. Jordan stayed and really enjoyed listening to all the stories.

Kara brought Katelyn back in time to meet Peter Rabbit. Both girls loved him!

Another book being read after meeting Peter Rabbit... Kara and Katelyn hung around.

After story reading, they passed out rabbits for everyone to make. Both girls had a lot of fun making their rabbits. They also had coloring pages and cookies. It was a really nice event.

Saturday, Jordan had her new swimming lessons with her friend, Alyssa. Everyone in this pool wears swimming goggles so we bought Jordan new pink ones. She loves them.

Jordan swimming!

After swimming, the girls wanted to play dress-up - OF COURSE! This cracked me up because Jordan refused to wear a top with her hula skirt. She said hula dancers did not wear tops!

Late afternoon, CHH and I went to the Studio Movie Grill and saw "Inkheart". I liked it. Of course, I like Brendan Fraser so it was an easy one for me to go see. Kara was home babysitting the girls. Thank you Kara!!

Sunday morning, my girls are dressed to go to a birthday party. I thought they looked so cute that I had to get pictures of them.

Katelyn was so funny. She sat on the bathroom counter looking at the mirror while I did her hair. When I was done, she said "Look Daddy, I pretty." CHH and I had just commented that she really is speaking in sentences now. For example that morning, Katelyn, Jordan and I were all laying in bed cuddling and CHH leaned down to give me a hug -- Katelyn said "No Daddy, no touch Mama!" We laughed. She does not like when CHH and I are ever hugging; she always goes in between us. Now she can even state her dislike in sentences - ha!

My pretty 4 year old baby!

We went to a birthday party at the Flight Museum next to Love Field. I had never been there before. It was neat. The girls loved it. They have a play area and, Jordan is sitting in the top of the tower in that area.

Both girls are checking out the cockpit in the model plane.

My family!

The girls love chocolate cake so they were really happy here.

A few weeks back, I had bought Jordan a foam Valentine house at Michael's to put together. After the birthday party, she asked me if we could do it. Katelyn was taking a nap so it was a perfect time to do so.

I have to say Jordan really amazed me. She would look at the picture and know where to put things. I, of course, helped her out on a lot of it but it was definitely a team approach. She pretty much decorated the whole thing on her own with my help in holding items.

She followed the picture. I thought she may leave some stuff off but she did not miss anything.

Last but not least, putting the glitter on the house. She pointed out all the items in the picture that had glitter on them. I put the glue where she pointed and then took the house by the sink. She then sprinkled the glitter all over the house. We had glitter everywhere!! It was on my clothes, the sink, her clothes, her hair and all over the floor. Oh well :)

Jordan proudly displaying her Valentine house. It took us a couple of hours to make but I can honestly say it was some of the funniest two hours. I loved being with her, talking to her, and just watching her. She really enjoyed it and I loved that.

Sunday evening, CHH had a meeting so Aunt Kara, the girls, and me all went to PF Changs. I haven't been there in years but really enjoyed it. Poor Kara -- she never gets to have a meal without Katelyn sitting on her lap at least part of the time. Katelyn ate crispy green beans and noodles. At home, I will make "top ramen" for the girls all the time. We call it noodle soup. Katelyn, while at PF Changs, kept calling her noodles - "soup" - instead of noodles.

Jordan at PF Changs. All she wanted to eat was steam rice and soy sauce. She had two bowls and loved it. Her Japanese kin would be proud of her love for rice!

It was a nice but really busy weekend. Combine all of our activities with chores that didn't get done during the week and there was little time for much else. The weekends just seem to go so fast. Work is crazy busy for me right now so time just seems to be flying by. I cannot believe January is already gone!!
