Valentines Items for Me?!! Thank You Christy B.!!

I arrived home tonight to find a box left at my door. Imagine my surprise when I went to open it up and saw what was inside. Jordan helped me open it and was so excited.

Here is Jordan holding the card included in the box. We love surprises!! I opened the card and saw it was to Jordan, Katelyn and Me from Christy and Max.

I then knew what Christy and Max had sent to us - Valentine cookie stuff! After a hectic day at work, a sick 2 year old with a fever, and just overall stress, I was suddenly so happy and thrilled with this wonderful gift.

The Story: I went to lunch with my good friend, Dale, last week. She's Christy's Mom. Christy and family live in Tennessee. While at lunch, I asked her how Christy does it -- being "That Mom". I explained to Dale that I had seen on Christy's blog a picture of cookies Max and her had made for Thanksgiving. They were incredible. I also saw cookies they made at Christmas.

I went on to explain that I never desired to cook or bake before having my girls. Now that Jordan is 4 years old and getting into baking and Katelyn likes "to cook", I regret not knowing how.

Besides Christy's blog, I had read a couple of times on Crys Aigner's blog (founder of the Princess Alexa Foundation) about how much her daughter, Alexa, and her had enjoyed making cookies and cupcakes.

All of this made me start thinking that I wanted to make cookies with my girls as well and create these memories these Moms have created. As stated eating lunch with Dale (and Jackie!), I was talking about this to Dale and asking her how Christy does it. Christy is one of those people that always has great ideas and is so creative. I went on to explain (don't laugh people - seriously) that with all this in mind, I found myself standing in the middle of Wal-Mart not having a clue as to how to go about making cookies.

Side note: I mowed the yard and cleaned the pool growing up while my sister was the cook in the kitchen. I honestly never learned how and really had no desire.

While in Wal-Mart, I found myself perplexed because I did not know how to go about making sugar cookies for my girls to then decorate. Should I buy a package mix? How would I roll them out then after getting the dough made? Should I just buy the slice and bake ones in a tube? I thought it would be fun for my girls to cut out cookies but I had no idea about how to do the dough.

I left Wal-Mart with nothing.

I told all of this to Dale and asked how Christy makes her cookies. I also told Dale that I really wanted to make Valentine cookies with my girls. I needed instructions on how to do this. I was picking Dale's brain about Christy and how she comes up with all these great cookie ideas and how she makes her cookies. Dale then told me that Valentine's Day cookies are one of Christy and Max's biggest cookies events of the year!

Well when I opened the box tonight with all the Valentine's cookie items, I knew Dale told Christy all about my dilemma. I'm sure Christy didn't laugh!

Look at all these wonderful items!! You know there are people in this world that are just good people. Christy is one of them. She was one of the first people out there to sign up and send me 10 dresses for the Princess Alexa Foundation all the way from Tennessee. I recognize the time it takes to go purchase items and put them in the mail for someone; Christy did this.

Jordan looking at the sprinkles. She was so excited about the various kinds (absolutely adorable) that Christy and Max sent. Katelyn was in bed when I opened the box but will definitely help out when we make cookies and cupcakes.

OK! Check this out!! This is the best part!! Christy enlarged pictures of the various ways to get dough to make the cookies. She put these pictures on cards with instructions on what she did with the dough or what she liked about that particular dough. Can you believe that? I wanted to cry over silly 5x7 cards. Instructions for Mommy - yeah!!

Now I can make cookies with my girls! THANK YOU CHRISTY AND MAX!!! XOXOXO TO THE B. FAMILY!

PS You know I will blog pictures of our cookies once made!
