I went to lunch with my college friend, Lisa. I asked her what she got her daughter for her birthday and she said Zhu Zhu Pets. When I asked her what they were, she told me they were the latest hottest item for this year and then described them to me -- fake hamsters and the hamster house.Lisa then went on to tell me that they were sold out everywhere. She said they laughed at her at Toys R Us when she walked in one day around 1 PM and asked for them. Her daughter said she wanted Zhu Zhu Pets for her birthday and Lisa did not realize how difficult they would be to get.
Lisa finally obtained her Zhu Zhu Pets with her third trip to Toys R Us. They just happened to have received a shipment about the time she got there.
With all this in mind, I contacted my sisters and told them to be on the look out. I thought this would be a great gift to get Katelyn for her upcoming birthday. Katelyn LOVES, LOVES, LOVES animals plus this is something we do not currently have. It would be a gift exclusive to Katelyn never purchased before by us.
I emailed my sisters and told them Lisa's story and how difficult it would be to find them but to keep an eye out for me. I wanted them for Katelyn's birthday surprise!
Well good ole Aunt Jill. She beat Aunt Kara and I to it. She was on it. She looked up Zhu Zhu Pets online and made a list of all the pieces. She then went to a Toys R Us by her at lunch. They happened to have a shipment in. She was able to purchase 5 of the pieces but only 1 of the 4 available hamsters. There was a limit of 1 hamster per shopper.
Jill then went back to work and recruited 3 of her fellow co-workers. These wonderful ladies loaded up into Jill's jeep and headed to Toys R Us. They each went in and purchased a hamster.
Jill called me all excited and I was thrilled. I couldn't believe we actually would have this birthday gift for Katelyn. Jill was so wonderful to hunt these down for our Katelyn.
Jill also instructed Kara and me on the three pieces we were missing. Will you believe that I found one at Target, one at Wal-Mart, and one at Learning Express?! But get this -- each place had one piece/only one Zhu Zhu item on the shelf (no lie!) and it happened to be one of the pieces we were missing. What were the chances. I should have bought a lottery ticket when this happened the third time and it was the last piece we were missing.
We got all that was available for now!! I cannot wait to give it to Katelyn for her birthday. I hope she loves it. If anything as stated, it is special to her!
PS They are suppose to come out right now with a pink hamster named Jilly. I will have to get that one because of it being pink and it has my sister's name! As always, thank you Jill. My girls are so lucky to have you in their lives as am I.
