Dress Up Drive! Princess Alexa Foundation!!

See this picture of this sweet angel -- this is Alexa. Alexa passed away over a year ago from complications brought on by a pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma.

Alexa lived much of her life undergoing treatment for cancer. Some of the happiest times in Alexa's life were playing dress-up. She loved to dress like the princess she was or like a super hero she also was.

After Alexa passed away, her parents started a foundation in her honor called the Princess Alexa Foundation. I am on the Advisory Board. I became involved in the organization from reading about Alexa and learning about the foundation.

The Princess Alexa Foundation brings this same type of happiness to seriously ill children all over the US. The foundation provides dress-up items to these children to bring them a spot of happiness and a chance to play and dream like any other child. With all this in mind, please read on:

Thank you for your previous support of The Princess Alexa Foundation. As the new Halloween season approaches, please remember us when you find yourself surrounded by tiaras, masks, superheroes and princesses.

Because of your generosity, last year we were able to place dress up closets at Children's Medical Center and a dress up chest at Our Children's House Baylor in Dallas. We sent
Dress Up Deliveries to children across the US being treated at over 25 hospitals and we have touched the lives of many families with children on hospice care. Hundreds of seriously ill children smiled brighter and had better days because The Princess Alexa Foundation was there spreading the joy of dress up.

There are big plans for the upcoming giving year. . . We are announcing our expansion to Cook Children's in Fort Worth! We will be working closely with Cook Children's to give them the perfect dress up closets to complement their patient's needs and look forward to another grand opening. Please consider donating to our foundation and help give the healing power of happiness. We need monetary donations as well as new costumes and accessories for boys and girls ages 2-10. Please pass this on to anyone you know who would be willing to be a part of our growing success.Sincerely,

Friends and Family, please consider donating to this organization again this year. I have worked with Crys and others at the organization and can state the funds and new costumes/accessories go to all seriously ill children who need this happiness. Examples for the use of the funds are to purchase more new costumes and accessories, postage to ship the costumes to children all over the US, etc. The Board and helpers are all volunteers.

If you are out shopping for Halloween, please consider picking up a tiara, princess dress or a cute boy costume and donating to this cause. Great sales occur right on or after Halloween. Consider hitting your Targets or Wal-Marts, etc. and getting these items on sale!! I will be collecting items again this year to give to the organization. Any new items or funds are sincerely appreciated!!

As I always state, I get this. My girls love to play dress-up constantly. What a great way to give a sick child a relief from what they are going through. I know where I will be on Sunday, November 1st -- out shopping. Please consider doing the same. Thank you!
