Oklahoma Cabin with Friends - May 13 to 15, 2011

On Friday at Jordan's school, she had another "free dress day" - no uniform! Her Daddy took her to school on this morning instead of me because the school had "Doughnuts for Dads" for the fathers and their daughters. This was in appreciation of Dictation Dads (Dads once a month would go to the school in the morning and split up the class with a couple other fathers. A topic would be assigned and the girls in the class dictated to a Dad their story on that particular topic. At the end of the school year, each parent receives a book with all of their daughter's stories. It is pretty neat).

Jordan's class also got to decorate a May Day pole on this day plus have lunch outside. Jordan was very excited about her day.

Katelyn gets to wear dresses on Friday to her school, no uniform. I love her pose above. Cinderella taught her this while at Disney to hold out your dress so others may see it. She cracked me up when she did this for the picture.

I love this picture of Jordan and her Daddy.

Our Katelyn.

Friday after school, we headed to Broken Bow, Oklahoma. We rented a cabin for the weekend with two other couples -- Jordan's classmates at school. One of the Mom's celebrated her birthday this weekend hence the girls looking at a birthday card for her above.

Katelyn taking a peek over her Daddy's shoulder while he is holding her.

Party hair! My crazy friend wanted all the girls to have party hair so we had numerous pony tails in our hair. We laughed and laughed. Yes we are two professional women who can still have fun.

Jordan and her buddy with their party hair.

Three classmates!

So I have probably mentioned previously that Katelyn is the class clown. Truly. Every day when I pick her up from school she will do something funny to make the class laugh before she departs. She TOTALLY DISRUPTS the whole class and gets them all fired up. Unfortunately for the teacher she makes me laugh (I honestly know I shouldn't) and the class goes nuts. The picture above is a small sample of something she typically does to get others to laugh. Many times she will stick her bottom out to the class and shake it. Other times she will say something silly and roll her eyes. She has all sorts of tricks. She really is funny - probably not at the best times though. I can't (dread) wait to hear from her much stricter teacher at her new school next year. I think I will let her Daddy handle that conference :)

Isn't she beautiful?! Our sweet funny spirited girl.

Saturday in Oklahoma, we went hiking. I don't think I have ever been hiking. We had a great time. We walked about four miles. Above is Katelyn on the path.

The path was blocked several times by fallen trees and we had to find our way around them or over them to stick to the hiking trail.

We reached a beautiful lake. It was breathtaking. Here is the group of Moms and kids above.

My girls in their lime green shorts walking down the trail. OK, I messed up. I did not spray my girls with bug spray. My friend saw me spraying them and thought it was bug spray but I was spraying them down with sun block. Needless to say both girls got ticks on them.

I about freaked out when I saw the first one on Jordan's hip. She was bathing after our hike and when she stood up to towel off I saw a black spot on her hip. I knew she did not have a mole in that spot and on closer inspection I realized it was a tick. I couldn't get it off but Jordan managed to do so. She plucked it free and proceeded to drop it in the bath water where her sister was sitting! I quickly went to get Katelyn out and the tick was now on Katelyn's ankle. It came off easy this time. My friends than informed me they had removed a couple from Katelyn while out on the trail and didn't tell me. Yuck! Can you say Lime Disease? I didn't freak out though because two of our friends are doctors and weren't concerned.

Katelyn did great hiking up the trail but was worn out on the way back. One of the Dad's was so nice to carry her for some of the way.

The weekend group!

Yes that is Katelyn hitching a ride with another Dad now while walking back on the trail. CHH was not with us because he had to return home for a work event.

After hiking, the kids relaxed in the hot tub at the cabin and had a blast.

All comfortable and warm they then hung out Saturday afternoon in one of the bedrooms playing and watching movies.

The picture above is of the sweetest dog that showed up at our cabin. I loved this dog. She was perfect and I almost took her. Our friend said she was obviously well fed so belonged to someone and wasn't a stray. Katelyn played with her all night and loved her. I can't wait to get my girls a dog again. Our family is ready.

Enjoying a fire out by the cabin.

Katelyn howling at the moon!

The kids hanging out together on one of the bunk beds. Jordan was so exhausted she was still sound asleep despite all the noise.

Jordie is up now. We had the best time with our friends. My sister, Jill, and her husband, Marty, have rented a cabin in Oklahoma several times now and always talk about what a good time they had. Now I know. It was wonderful. The weather was cooler and it was so peaceful. CHH and our girls loved it. We are definitely going again!
